Averie's 1st Birthday!!!!!!

Averie is turning 1 this week!!!! It's amazing how fast time flies!

Koreans celebrate a baby's 1st birthday with a big party and since she is 50% Korean, we had to throw one for her too!! For her "Dol" I decided against giving out the traditional rice cakes and decided to make cookies instead. What else would I make????

Balloon cookies!!!

I hope everyone liked the design, it was cute and simple and the colors matched the banners that hung against the wall.

Flower Button Cookies

These cookies were for a friend's baby shower. She wanted pink flower button cookies. The sugar cookie recipe I used was No Fail Sugar Cookies and Antonia Royal Icing. I love using this particular icing. It dries fast and it taste good too.

I actually wanted to put holes through the cookies, but it didn't turn out so well..... I'm still working on that part. But for the most part, it does look like a button....right?

I made about 50 cookies in all. My friend was pretty happy with the results.

I had some extra cookies left over so I decided to practice designing for my next project. Averie's 1st birthday party is coming up and I plan on making balloon sugar cookies as favors. I need to make about 70 cookies, so I wanted something simple and cute. The color themes are purple, lavender and pink. I plan to have tons and tons of balloons everywhere....hence the balloon design.

As some of you guys know, I've been selling my crochet hats, cards, hair clippies on etsy. These past two months has been busier....for obvious reasons. Anyways, one of my customer name Bethany, was nice enough to email me a photo of her daughter wearing the hat I made for her. She about the same age as Averie.

Isn't she just adorable! You gotta love that smile!
